Congratulations to Destiny Small for being selected as Studio One’s Summerlin Dance Academy Innovation Dance Star of the Month.
Destiny is 15 years old and is in the 11th grade at Bishop Gorman High School. Her favorite subjects in school are Math and Science and her favorite hobbies include reading, listening to music, dancing, painting, swimming, and surfing. She has been dancing for 12 years and her favorite styles of dance are Jazz and Contemporary. Her favorite color is Pink and her favorite food include both Crab Legs and Salmon. In the future, Destiny plans to attend Notre Dame or UC Berkley to obtain an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Human Biology/Pre-Med degree. After that, she plans to attend Med School to become a Pediatric Surgeon. Destiney states: “I was diagnosed with a juvenile auto-immune disease, specifically Type 1 Diabetes, which has influenced me to work with children as a general surgeon.” She also plans to minor in Dance, as dance is what inspired her to be who she is today and who she plans to be in the future.

Congratulations to Joseph Tighi for being selected Studio One’s Summerlin Dance Academy Innovation Dance Star of the Month. Joseph is 14 years old and is in the 9th grade at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. His favorite subject in school is Math and his favorite hobbies include Flying RC model Aircrafts. He has been dancing for 10 years. Joseph states “Tap is my favorite style because of Mrs. Kathy, she makes sure everyone in the classroom understands every step that she teaches. However I also love nearly every style of dance because of how talented and passionate the teachers are towards helping their students.” His favorite color is Navy Blue and his favorite food is Mac and Cheese along with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. In his future Joseph’s dream is to become a Pilot and a Aeronautical Engineer.

Congratulations to Tyler Chiyuto for being selected Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy Innovation Dance Star of the Month. Tyler is nine years old and attends Bozarth Elementary School as a fourth grade student. She has a twelve year old brother named Damian and four dogs named Zoe, Chaos, Taco and Chewy and her favorite color is baby blue. She has been dancing for seven years and has enjoyed dancing for Innovation Dance Company for two years. Her favorite dance styles are tap and ballet. When Tyler grows up, she wants to be a dance teacher or a veterinarian. Kathy Downey, her Tap teacher says she has a great work ethic, attitude, and attendance which all contribute to Tyler becoming a role model for her team mates. She is a pleasure to teach.

Congratulations to Shelby Krzmarzick for being selected Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy’s Innovation Dance Star of the Month. Shelby is seventeen years old and she attends Las Vegas Academy where she is in eleventh grade. Shelby has been dancing for ten years and her favorite style of dance is contemporary and she has been a member of Innovation Dance Company for two years and she is proud to be part of this dance family and learn from such amazing dance teachers.
She has one brother named Cole and one sister named Noelle. She also has a yellow Labrador named Cooper and her favorite color is purple. When she grows up, she wants to travel the world and hopefully join a contemporary dance company and/or choreograph for one. Her hobbies are dancing, sleeping, and hiking. Ms. Inez says she is a very hard worker and performs beautifully on stage. I am sure she will accomplish anything in life she puts her mind to.
April 2016 | Vina Legaspina
Vina Legaspina is thirteen years old and attends Saint Francis De Sales Catholic School where she is in seventh grade. Vina is actively involved in the national honor society where she is vice president. She maintains her high honor grade. She has three brothers named NaiNai, Caleb, and Jonathan and she has a Shih Tzu dog named Chester. Vina has trained in dance for seven years and has been a member of Innovation Dance Company for four years. She has participated in Cinderella Youth Scholarship program since she was three years old and she held the title of 2013-2014 Nevada State Cinderella Miniature Miss overall winner. Vina is very thankful and extremely happy with her relationships she has with her dance teachers and fellow dancers.
With her extensive dance training in ballet, jazz tricks, hip hop, and Competition teams, Vina has become the young dancer she dreamed of being. Being one of Vina’s teachers and working with her in classes, I feel Vina has learned the value of hard work and perseverance. She is very focused and confident in all she does. She is a joy to work with and is very well liked by her teachers and peers.

March 2016 | Hope Taylor
Hope Elizabeth Taylor is nine years old and attends the Las Vegas Day School as a fourth grader. Her favorite subject is spelling and her favorite activity is S.T.E.M. club. Hope has been dancing since she was two years old and joined the Innovation Dance Company Competition Team when she was seven years old. Her favorite dance style is lyrical. She has three siblings, Olivia who is ten, Rachel who is seventeen, and Ben who is twenty. She has a miniature Schnauzer named Rex and a Yorkie named Baily and her favorite color is pink. Hope wants to be a fashion designer and a professional dancer when she grows up. Her hobbies are art and reading and her favorite book series is A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Hope is thankful to have met Ms. Stephanie as she has encouraged and inspired her love of dance.

February 2016 | Miranda Williams
Miranda Williams is seventeen years old and is a senior at Centennial High School. She has been dancing at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy for three years and is on competition team with Innovation Dance Company. She started dancing at the age of six at Studio One Dance under the direction of Inez Mourning where both Inez and Heidi Hopper have worked with her. She started doing solos with Ms. Inez at the age of ten and is now a very strong technical dancer. She will be auditioning for Julliard School of the Arts when she graduates hoping to further her education of dance. If she does not make the audition, she will be attending the University of Arizona as a double major in dance and psychology. Her favorite color is blue and she has a twin brother named Steven. In her free time, she enjoys going to the gym and doing Bikrim Yoga. Her favorite style of dance is lyrical as she loves expressing emotions through movement. Ms. Inez commented that she is a very focused and a hardworking student. I will miss her when she leaves since, I feel I have helped raise her through her dance training. She will definitely take a piece of my heart but I wish her the best to a student who deserves it all.

Audrey Todd is eleven years old and attends Founders Academy of Las Vegas as a sixth grade student. Her favorite subject in school is mathematics and her favorite color is dark blue. Audrey has been dancing at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy for nine years where her favorite style of dance is lyrical. She started dancing with Ms. Sue Stigler in a combo class. She has a younger brother named Alexander and one pet cat named Kitty. Audrey’s favorite hobby is reading and she loves to dance and loves learning from all her teachers. Audrey hopes to be a book editor when she grows up. All of her teachers love having her in class.

Angelia Bulleri is thirteen years old and in eighth grade. She has been dancing for eight years and this season will be her seventh competitive season. She has four brothers and one sister and loves to share her love of dance with her sister. She has two dogs, Molly and Nevy and two cats, Salem and Beastie. In her spare time, she loves to watch make up tutorials and loves experimenting with new looks. Angelia is an excellent student and hopes to attend LVA next year. Angelia wants to pursue a dancing and singing career. After finals, she is looking forward to attending the Hollywood summer tour, a summer intensive for career minded dancers. She loves all the students and teachers at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy. Ms. Inez, being one of her teachers, says she is an excellent student, hardworking, and has a good attitude. November 2015 | Jaycie Seta
Jaycie Seta is seventeen years old and will turn eighteen on November twenty-eighth. She is a senior at Faith Lutheran School and has been dancing for fifteen years and has been a member of Innovation Dance Team for three years. Her favorite dance styles are jazz and lyrical. Dance Spirit Magazine and Show Stoppers Competition cover program put Jaycie on their cover. She has two half sibling sisters and one brother. Her pet is Smokey the cat and her favorite color is pink. When she graduates from high school, she hopes to attend Arizona State University where she wants to pursue a career in crime investigations like CSI. Her hobby is the Faith Lutheran Dance Team. Since she has been at Studio One – Summerlin Dance Academy, she has grown and matured a lot and wants to thank Kevin, Sam, and Inez for pushing her and taking her dance level to a level she would not have been able to reach on her own. She cherishes the memories she has made with her team as a competitive dancer comes to a close. Inez has been her teacher for three years and says she is a model student and has come very far. “I will miss her so much when she leaves and I would welcome a student like her anytime in my classes. Grace Vanetti is fourteen years old and attends the Las Vegas Academy of Arts where she is majoring in dance. Grace has been dancing for twelve years and has been a competitive dancer for ten years. She loves all disciplines of dance. She has two siblings, Morgan and Camron, two Siberian husky’s named Sinjun and Alaska. She also has a white Siamese cat named Lilly. Her favorite colors are purple and green and she loves to watch movies in her spare time. Grace was recently chosen to be an assistant teacher for Westcoast Dance Explosion for the 2015-2016 dance season and will be traveling to several cities to complete her duties. Grace is very appreciative of the instruction she has received from Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy and attributes her success as a dancer to Ms. Inez, Mr. Kevin, Ms. Sam, and Mr. Jeremy. Ms. Inez is her Ballet teacher and says she has really been focusing on her technique. She is very dedicated and is a joy to work with.

September 2015 | Rylee Carmichael Kingham
Rylee Carmichael Kingham is 9 years old and is in fourth grade at Givens Elementary School, where she is a GATE student and is on the straight A honor roll. She has been dancing 7 years, and 3 years competitively. Her favorite dance styles are ballet and lyrical, but she also loves jazz and tap. Rylee has two sisters, Taylor who is eleven and Lauren who is seven. She has no pets but wants to have a fluffy white Persian cat someday. Rylee would like to become a fashion designer and a dance studio owner as she wants to design costumes and choreograph. Her hobbies are dance, reading books, where the Land of Stories series is her favorite right now. She also likes to play with her American Girl dolls. Her teacher, Kathleen Downey, says she has a strong work ethic and consistent attendance which has made her an asset in class and on team. I can always count on her to be on time and remember her choreography.

June 2015 | Kali Sayles
Kali Sayles moved to Las Vegas to study at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy two years ago. She is in fifth grade at Givens Elementary School where she is a gate and honor student. She excels in math and has a new love for reading.
Kali has two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. Her favorite styles of dance is jazz and jazz funk, but enjoys lyrical tap and contemporary as well. Coming from California, Kali has had the opportunity to train with some of L.A.s best, Debbie Allen, Shannon Mathers, and Mark Goodman to name a few. She spends her summers in L.A. where she can attend there intensives.
When she is not dancing, she enjoys spending time on the beach in San Diego. She is passionate about dance and loves training under the Innovation dance instructors. She plans to dance professionally and aspires to be in Cirque Du Soleil someday. Beyond dance, her plan is to attend college and earn a business degree, to one day own and run a dance company of her own.

May 2015 | Avery Gosdis
Avery Marie Gosdis is twelve years old and she is in seventh grade at Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic School where her favorite subject is literature. She has one brother named Jett who is ten and a Chiwiener dog named lily. She has been dancing at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy for over one year. She is also a member of Innovation Dance Company. Her favorite dance style is jazz. Avery moved from Salt Lake City UT. and loves it here. Here favorite color is lime green and her favorite hobby is dance. After hearing stories from some of her teachers about traveling the world dancing on a cruise ship, she hopes to do the same in her future. She loves to hang out and watch movies with her dance friends. After training Avery in Ballet, I find her to be very responsive to her training. She is a very good student. I have no doubt that she will be able to do whatever she wants to do in her future. Whether it is a cruise ship dancer or a star on Broadway, the sky will be the limit for her.

April 2015 | Ryan Trotman
Ryan Trotman is eighteen years old and is a senior student at Las Vegas Academy. He has two siblings, Isabella and Andrew. He also has three cats. Ryan has been dancing with Studio One’s – Dance Academy for two years. He is also a member of the Innovation Dance Company. His favorite dance style is contemporary jazz. He received a scholarship to Point Park University in Pittsburgh PA. His future plans after graduation is to venture out and dance in different companies, shows, and cruise ships and then hopefully will open his own dance studio.
Ryan has been dancing for ten years. He won Mr. Dance America. His favorite color is green and his favorite dancer is Ricky Ubeda. His favorite choreographer is Sonja Tayeh. His hobbies are sports, choreography, drawing and writing. Ryan is sad to leave the studio at Summerlin, but is excited to graduate and experience the world as an adult. His teachers love Ryan, he is a funny guy but serious when it comes to his dancing. His teachers also have no doubt that he will achieve in life what he wants to achieve.

March 2015 | Chase Daniels
Chase is sixteen years old and is a dance major at the Las Vegas Academy where he is a junior. His favorite subject in school is Japanese honors. He is a competitive dancer with Innovation Dance Company. He has one sister named Delia who also dances with innovation Dance Company. He has been interested in dancing since he was five years old after watching his sisters first dance recital. His favorite dance style is Horton, and Ballet and his favorite color is black. He has one lazy Bassett Hound named Gwenie. What he wants to do in the future is work with Alvin Ailey and perform on Broadway where he specifically wants to perform on the Broadway hits, Book of Mormon and Newsies. He has been in two independent films and nearly twenty theater productions, including the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
Mr. Kevin Leon, the competition director and Ms. Inez Mourning, his ballet instructor, both agree he is a very hard working student. We love working with Chase.
February 2015 | Noah Montella
Noah Montella is thirteen years old and is in eighth grade at Canarelli Middle School. His favorite subject is orchestra where he plays the Cello. He also has two brothers and one sister and his favorite color is red. In his spare time, he loves to play Minecraft and Kendama. Noah has been involved with Innovation Dance Company for six years where his dance training consists of tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical.
This year he became a teacher’s assistant for Miss Kathy, his tap teacher. He enjoys sharing his love of tap and helping the younger kids learn new steps. Noah would like to thank all of his teachers for believing in him for helping him get closer to his dream of becoming a dancer. Noah’s dream is to become a dancer on a cruise ship to be able to travel the world.

January 2015 | Tori Teunis
Tori Teunis is six years old and she attends Springstone Montessori as a first grader where her favorite subject is math. Tori has a thirteen year old brother named Trent and two dogs named Jem and Clark. Her favorite color is red and she loves to dance at home, in public and she loves to do her own choreography. Tori also enjoys rollercoasters and she begs to go on a hot air balloon.
She gave up gymnastics to focus on her dance. Tori is very competitive whether it is playing board games, dancing, or racing her brother. She loves energy involved competition. For a six year old, she is very focused and you can tell she loves to train and dance. Tori is a model student.

Kyra is sixteen years old and attends Las Vegas Academy where she carries a 4.0 GPA and is a candidate for class valedictorian this year. She hopes to attend Stanford University after she graduates and wants to major in biology. Her goal is to become a fertility specialist. Kyra has been studying at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy for three years where she has studied ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. She is also a member of Innovation Dance Company where she has been performing for three years as well. She has two cats, Chaplin and Ember, and one dog named Lena. Her favorite color is blue. Ms. Inez Kelley, her ballet teacher, says she works hard and always delivers whatever you give her. Ms. Kelley loves her and is very happy to be part of her training.

Isabella is fifteen years old and attends Bishop Gorman High School. She is a sophomore and she is part of the academic society, medical society, and the best buddies program. She has trained at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy for thirteen years where she has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Tap. Isabella has been a member of Innovative Dance Company for seven years and is happy and grateful to be a member of the team.
After high school, she wishes to attend NYU to study dance and journalism. Isabella is thankful for the opportunity to work with such amazing teachers that truly care for her and is thankful to be able to do what she loves every day. October 2014 | Sabine Nehls
Sabine Nehls is 8 years old and she is a student at Founders Academy of Las Vegas (classical education based on the principles of our founding fathers) where she is a third grade student. Her favorite subjects in school are math, science, art, and music. She has been training in dance for six years at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy (she started in ballet at two years old). She has been dancing competitively for three years for Innovation Dance Company. She spends sixteen hours a week practicing ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap and acrobatics. Her hobbies are loom knitting, making jewelry, baking, drawing, and spending time with her family and friends. Ms. Inez, one of her teachers, states she is one of the most talented children at the age of eight she has ever taught. She loves working with her.

Mia Hennessy is nine years old and she is an A and B honor roll student. All her teachers say she is a gem to have in class. In the fall, she will be attending Doral Arts Academy. This is a new charter school that incorporates the arts into every subject. She is very excited to be attending this school.
Mia has been dancing since she was two and has been competing with Innovation Dance Company for three years. She loves tap but also competes in Jazz, Lyrical, and Acro. She enjoyed assisting Miss Kathy with her Tap minis last season. Miss Kathy, her tap teacher says that she is always eager to learn in class and is constantly working to be better. May 2014 | Jayd’n Harris
Jayd’n Harris is 13 years old and is in 8th School where he is an honor roll student. He has won several academic awards including the Charles A. Silvestri Civic Award. He has been dancing since he was 6 years old and he considers Studio One’s – Dance Academy his second home. Jayd’n trains in all styles of dance but is known for hip hop. He was a member of the Prodigy Crew under the direction of Kay More. Jayd’n will attend the Las Vegas Academy next year and hopes to attend USC when he graduates from high school. He would like to be a Choreographer or music producer. Miss Stephanie Melanson, one of his teachers says he is very driven and is a hard working student. Jayd’n is a student that any teacher would be proud to have in their class.
April 2014 | Annalee Ross
Annalee Ross is 14 years old and is a student at Las Vegas Day School and has been attending Las Vegas Day School since she was in kindergarten. Every year she has been on the directors list. The past three years, Annalee has met the criteria by John Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth and the Great Western Academic Talent Search to have the opportunity to take college abilities test and courses. She has been dancing at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy since she was three years old. She learned tap dancing from Jeremy Fullam and competed in her first competition when she was four years old. She has won many awards for her tap solos over the past few years. She loves all of her dance instructors and feels very fortunate to have learned so much from them. In addition to being on the competition dance team for ten years, Annalee has also performed in the three Broadway Bound plays here at Summerlin. Besides her greatest passion of dance, Annalee loves to sew, quilt and crochet.

March 2014 | Amari Valladares
Amari Valladares is 7 years old and has been dancing at Studio One’s – Summerlin Dance Academy since May of 2013. She loves both Jazz and Tap. She says competing in her first dance competition this February was like the second best day of her life right after her adoption day.
She is in first grade at Linda Givens Elementary School and she loves reading Nancy Drew books when she is not dancing. Her favorite color is purple and she loves anything sparkly. At home, even though she has two dogs and three cats, her favorite animal is a Cheetah.
Ms. Kathy, one of her teachers commented how she loves to dance, and it really shows. She is hard working and energetic and we could not ask for more in a student.

December 2013 | Melanie Luchterhand
Melanie is 10 years old and has been dancing competitively since the age the age of 5. She has been training 30+ hours a week since she started dancing. This is her 2nd year dancing with SOSDA and Innovation Dance Company. She loves all genres of dance and her favorite is Contemporary/Lyrical.
Melanie is in the 5th grade and enjoys homeschooling with her mom. Her favorite colors are Red, Green and Blue. She also has an ATV and rides at Dumont Dunes. Melanie has 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Mel enjoys baking, making crafts and playing with her siblings.
Melanie’s Idols are Sonya Tayeh, Travis Wall and Kim Wolfe. She also loved taking Talia Favia’s workshop. Her favorite thing to do in dance is conventions, but she also loves competing, winning numerous awards, titles and scholarships. She loves West Coast Dance Explosion, The Pulse and 24/7.
Melanie is looking forward to what this year has to offer and loves all her dances. Melanie is very proud and thankful of all the support from her family, dance family and mentors along this wonderful journey in her life.

Maya Fowler was selected as student of the month due to her amazing work ethic. Maya accepts all challenges with a smile and never gives up no matter how hard the class may be. Maya has improved leaps and bounds over the last two years and we are so proud of her for her accomplishments.
Maya is 12 years old and is in 7th grade at Leavitt Middle School. Her favorite subject is English Language Arts and her favorite color is green and aqua-marine.
Maya has been dancing since she was 2 and 1/2 years old and this is her fourth season as a member of the Innovation Dance Competition Team. Her favorite style of dance is Lyrical and Contemporary. Maya has also performed in a duo for the past 2 years and will be performing in her first solo this season.
September 2013 | Dylan Kinzler
Dylan is 17 and has been dancing since he was six years old. He has danced with Studio One’s Summerlin Dance Academy and performed with Innovation Dance Company for the last six years. Dylan currently attends the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts as a dance major and will be a senior next year graduating with an Advance Honors diploma.
Dylan was also selected as a senior choreographer for the 2014 school year at LVA. Between his dance education at school and his competition and technique classes at SOSDA, he dances over 25 hours a week! His favorite style of dance is contemporary lyrical and he hopes to become a renowned choreographer in the future.
For the past year, Dylan has also been working at the Capezio Dance Shop in his spare time. He has three wonderful sisters and is the youngest in his family.
